Under the copyright law, educational institutions planning to screen films outside of class need a licence from the copyright owner. The Public Video Screening Licence (PVSL) permits legal ad-hoc film screenings from participating studios. Without this licence, institutions may violate copyright laws.
For those of you who want to show films regularly in a closed, recurring group, Swedish Film License is our best solution. It gives you the right to show films from all participating film companies* over and over again.
The license agreement is signed on a calendar year basis and is automatically renewed.
The annual fees are size- and member-based. Your Swedish Film License application must include the actual number of members or the number who visit your business on average.
As a Swedish Film License customer, you have the institutional rights required to show films from all film companies participating in the Swedish Film License.
This means that films intended for private home use are also permitted in your business for closed screenings. The agreement covers only rights, no products.
Screenings of the Swedish Film License may only take place for the activity for which the agreement is signed.
The screenings of the Swedish Film License do not apply to screenings of films that are public, i.e. open to the public.
